Each week radio DJ Laura Pittson opens up her wedding planning diary...
Phew! As I breathe a huge sigh of relief, I have great news this week.....the invitations have gone out! Already we have had the inevitable phone calls - the 'I’m not sure if I’m coming...', and the 'can I bring a friend/girlfriend/children?', but we were warned about this, and I’m armed with the reply. No! Harsh as it sounds if you’re invited you’re invited. If you’re not invited, it means we have no more space!
We made a pact about this because we knew it would stress us out. Strong as I sound, I’m a pussycat for the theory 'the more the merrier', but when you have 250 to feed, any more will not be merry for my bank account! So, no doubt there will be a few people a little upset and I will get the guilt trip, but my argument is this; over the years I have been to countless weddings on my own, and if you want to go alone, you will make the effort. If you don’t want to go alone, you’ll decline the invitation.
Sometimes you enjoy a wedding on your own, sometimes you end up snivelling in your hotel room wishing you had a partner to chat to while everyone else is dancing and having fun downstairs. That is life and I’ve had 15 years experience of the single world.
Well I’ll put away Miss Whiplash now and share with you my flower secrets. My darling sister-in-law Vesna (pictured), has offered to do the table flower arrangements for the Breakfast and I’m delighted. Vesna married my brother two years ago, and admitted to me that, even though she loved her flowers, she felt that she’d overspent on them. So she offered to deck out the marquee on my big day, and of course I nearly bit her arm off!
We have gone for a simple pair of white flowers in a cube vase and it looks fantastic. We whizzed up to Covent Garden early one morning, to buy the vases for a very reasonable price £3.99, you can’t say fairer than that! So, hopefully I’ve save myself some money there, and I’ll have the personal touch of Vesna, which means a lot to me. She’s a Godsend - there’s no doubt about it, my brother has taste!
Finally before I forget, another piece of good news...apart from the fact that it’s my birthday today...(my last as a single lady), don’t ask how old, needless to say, I will manage to make it down the aisle before the big 4- 0! Anyway, I digress, my work with my personal trainer at Esporta is starting to pay off....after three weeks of training three times a week with head trainer Tafara, I had a weigh in/measure up today, and here are the results:
I’ve lost 2 kilos (about 4 lbs!)
Weight: was 62 kilos, now 60 kilos Waist (good news for that corset): was 81cm, now 78cm Hips: were 99cm, now 94cm Arms (for that all important strapless dress): were 25.7cm, now 23.5cm BMI: was 21.7, now 20.9 Body fat percentage: was 31.9, now31.4
Of course the weight loss if great news, but to be honest, the training has been fantastic for all sorts of reasons...it has helped me de-stress, given me a different focus, and my fiancé has admitted that he’s often pretty glad to get me out of the house in the morning!
Well that’s it for this week, I’ll be back next week with the latest on the shoe issues and news on our wedding classes.
