Hi everyone!

Well with the nicer weather finally upon us, there’s a definite air of a 'quickened pace' all around me, and with only 14 weeks to go until the big day, I’m finding myself being taken over by wedding fever. This week it was all about two things.   The music for the church, and my teeth.

Way back in November when we booked the church, I do remember the vicar telling me to focus on the music, as the time would go very quickly and then I’d be in for a panic.....how right she was!

As a lover of music, and someone who has sung the odd solo at the odd wedding in my early days, I thought it would be a breeze for me.  Unfortunately, as with so many things in this wedding caper, there is too much choice and everything is lovely...

Enter my darling friend Richard Hetherington.  Richard is a brilliant pianist and conductor, and works at the Royal Opera House (no less)!  We met as children at our local church, and Richard has promised to be with me, musically, every step of the way.

So, we started with the hymns, that wasn’t too difficult, we each picked two hymns, All Creatures Great and Small, How Great Thou Art, Dear Lord and Father of Mankind, and Jerusalem.  The next bit wasn’t so easy,  we had to think about the entrance and exit music.   I went for the Arrival of the Queen of Sheba by Handel.  I chose this because it was a special favourite of a nun friend of mine who sadly passed away this year and as happy as I will be when I walk down the aisle, I will be thinking of her, and I hope she’ll be watching me.

My fiancé Mark chose the exit - the good old fashioned recessional Wedding March by Mendelssohn.  He’s also put a special twist on the end that’s a surprise, so I can’t tell you about that until the big day, I'm afraid!

Another little special extra will hopefully be my stepson Luke playing a trumpet fanfare on the entrance and exit.  He’s taking some persuading, but for me it would be the perfect icing on the musical cake, and he really does play so beautifully.

As far as the solos are concerned, we're still deliberating.  We’re hopefully going to have two and I'm speaking to several soloists at the moment. So when we agree on somebody, I think I'll see which song they like singing. as it's so important that it comes from the heart.

The choir consists fully of our friends (more on that later), and we are hopefully going to ask them to sing Count Your Blessings by Reginald Morgan...there won’t be a dry eye in the house!  As for the solo, it’s between I Know That My Redeemer Liveth , Ave Maria and Panis Angelicus.

Well, that’s some of the music planned this week.  As for the rest, it’s been all about the teeth.  A few years ago, I invested in having my teeth whitened.  I went down the dentist route, although I know you can have them done in some beauty salons.

So it was back to my dentist for the booster syringe.   Firstly I had a clean and an expert check up with Clare Rogers and her glamorous assistants (pictured) and then I picked up my whitener booster.  OK it’s not so glamorous sleeping with gum trays on, but my goodness three days of that potion, and I’ll be rivalling the white dress with my dazzling pearly whites!

Well that’s it for now, next week hopefully I’ll have a bridesmaid update for you and I’ll be a little closer to choosing a marquee, too.
