Well this week the big focus was on my hair, and what I planned to put on it. So it was another trip to Gorgeous Hair Salon, this time for a consultation with senior designer Adam Gates.
Right from the start I have known that I want my hair mostly down for my wedding day. Many times I've been to weddings and seen the bride with a fabulous hairdo, and yet I’ve hardly recognised her. Pretty as an 'up' hairdo can be, I believe that it doesn’t always suit every shape of face, and trying out a brand new style on your wedding day doesn’t feel to me to be a very good idea...
My theory was backed up by Adam at Gorgeous who said that in his experience, the most content brides were the ones who kept to a hairstyle fairly similar to their own or one regularly worn with of course all the added sparkles, twists and magic. Adam lifted the look with some soft curls, and backcombed the front a little. From there it was the style that we used to call 'a bit up' at school.
The next question is the big one. What on earth will be the crowning glory? Obviously every girl who ever dreamed of marrying Prince Charming has also dreamed of wearing a real diamond tiara. If that tiara is a family tiara, more's the better. However it seems there isn’t a Frey Family tiara (perhaps I should have checked that before accepting my man’s proposal!!!!!, only joking!) .
My cousin told me that his mother had a tiara which sadly got sold at Christie’s. How I would love to find that tiara to wear it just for the day. Or perhaps even get it copied so that I have my link to the past and my step-aunt Lady Tuck who was such a beautiful and kind lady. Could I find something like that in only eight weeks when there are so many other things to sort out? It’s certainly worth trying.
So the Tiara Troubles rumble on and I will keep you posted of my quest, and of course in the meantime I shall keep my eyes out for something on standby to put in my hair (even if it’s a beret!).
This week another very exciting mission has come up. Having mentioned on the radio that I was concerned about getting into the wedding dress that I ordered back in January (I went down a size to give myself something to work towards!), I was contacted by Jonathon at Esporta Gyms who offered me what every bride needs. ...a chance to drop a dress size in eight weeks!
Well there’s a challenge I couldn’t resist, so I embarked this week on a three-times-a-week personal training session with Tafara, one of their head trainers. OUCH! In three sessions I’ve managed to discover muscles that I didn’t even know existed. I’ve lost two pounds, but that hasn’t made a huge difference to the waistline just yet. I’m determined to stick with it, and be able to walk down the aisle with a spring in my step. Next week I’ll bring you the photos, and share with you some of the fitness tips, so that you can join me in dropping that dress size!
Don't forget you can check out my blog here.
