  • Cosmo Bride beauty editor Vic Black on how to walk down the aisle feeling a million dollars…

Of course, you want to look great every day, but on your wedding day, you’ll want to look like a beautiful goddess and melt the heart of your husband-to-be. And don’t worry, this can be achieved, with just a few little extra beauty potions and crafty tips...

* Ever noticed how the stars (especially Victoria Beckham!) pose when they’re on the red carpet in front of the cameras? Standing with one leg slightly in front of and crossed over the other, gives a slimmer silhouette and will have you looking totally svelte in your wedding pics.

* Going down the gym is not everyone’s idea of fun – or is it just me? Why not make the most of your last days as a single girl and go out clubbing with your girlfriends? There is no better way to shed those stubborn pounds than getting down on the dance floor, so get your glad rags on and get boogying!

* To give your body a boost treat yourself to Guinot’s Aromatic Body treatment. It uses orange, grapefruit and lemon oils and is the perfect zesty treat for flagging brides. Go for the Body Contouring version, £49 – the anti-cellulite massage and body mask will create smooth lines on bottoms and thighs.

* Fragrance has a powerful effect on the mind. Certain smells will trigger emotional responses so make sure you choose a perfume for your big day that you associate with all the happiest moments of your life. What fragrance were you wearing when you met your husband? Or is there something you always wear when you’re relaxed on holiday? Choose the right one and it will make you feel fabulous on your special day.

* On the big day, after pampering yourself to perfection, just relax and feel safe in the knowledge that you WILL GLOW today. Just ask anyone who has been a bride and they will tell you that they felt an inner glow that made them look and feel absolutely beautiful on their wedding day.

* Having a fake tan is a great way to look slimmer, almost immediately. If you don’t have time for a salon spray treatment, why not try Johnson’s Holiday Skin Body Lotion Firming, £4.99? Not only will it give skin a gorgeous glowing colour, but it will hide a multitude of skin sins.

* There’s nothing like a glass of wine at the end of the day to help you unwind. But if you’re used to having more than just the one glass, this will not only be piling on unnecessary pounds, but will also be taking the sparkle out of your skin. So cut out the alcohol and start drinking lots of herbal tea and water.

* Having soft shiny hair that looks and smells gorgeous always makes me feel fabulous. Make sure yours is in tip top condition and invest in some conditioning treatments from Kérastase (0800 316 4400). Available from salons nationwide, the range has treatments for every hair type, so spoil yourself with the one that’s right for you!

* I know it sounds strange, but something as simple as getting your eyebrows shaped can totally lift your face and give it more definition. Give Yolanda a call at Daniel Hersheson (020 7434 1747) and let her work her magic on yours.

* You might not be used to wearing heels, but let me tell you, there’s nothing like a pair of elegant high shoes to make you look that bit slimmer. But don’t forget, when wearing heels posture is everything. Walk tall and confident and you’ll feel like a million dollars.
