Q. I'm getting married on a beach next October. My hair's collar-length and I'm worried it'll fall in my face all day if it's breezy. What can I use to make it stay in place for photos that doesn't feel really sticky?
A. Make sure you have a great haircut which will be wind proof; always falling back into place. There are several options open to you: try using a small amount of mousse (Knowhow or Phtyo do not leave the hair feeling crunchy or sticky) and style your hair naturally, by adding a small amount of paste (size of a pea) work together in your hands and then work through your hair to give a textured edge or use gel to slick back your hair which can look very sharp and tailored very Al Pacino or Jude Law
Q. I'll need to get my hair cut before my wedding but I don't want to look too 'shorn'. How long before my wedding should I get it done to give it chance to look natural?
A. Get your hair cut two weeks before the big day to allow the haircut to settle in. If you have a recent tan take care not to have a last minute haircut which creates a white tidemark around the nape/collar area.
Q. I've suddenly started to get a flaky scalp - must be all the stress! What can I do to get rid of it fast? I'm getting married in three months.
A. If this is the first time you have experienced this then yes it is probably down to stress. Go to a salon that specialises in scalp treatments for a consultation and invest in a few in-salon scalp treatments. These will work wonders and also allow you to have some relaxing me time. Try using Philip Kingsley itchy flaky shampoo, Phyto Apaisant or our own Heal & Cleanse shampoo until it has cleared up.
Q. I have shortish hair but I'm starting to go bald on top. Would it look better if I had it cut really short, rather than leaving a thin patch?
A. Absolutely, the longer the hair is left under the thinning patch the more it will resemble Friar Tuck (not a good look). Keeping your hair cropped can make you look younger and sexier - think Freddie Ljundberg...
Q. Whenever I wash my hair, it goes all floppy. Should I avoid washing it the morning of my wedding?
A. Wash your hair the day before and then thoroughly wet it though in the morning, then style as normal. Try using a bodyfying shampoo and a small amount of paste to give it texture.
Q. I'd like to have something a bit more interesting done with my hair before my wedding. At the moment, I just put some gel in it and let it stick up but it's very thick and I'd like it to look a bit smarter. What do you recommend?
A. Like your fiancée, you should be thinking about your overall look long before the wedding. Have a consultation with your hairdresser to discuss your ideas and what is possible with your hair type, you can still go for your smart look but with a good haircut it can be choppy & textured - think Brad Pitt/David Beckham.
Q. I have quite a bit of grey in my hair and I've been considering colouring it before my wedding. Can it be done to look natural or will I just look ridiculous?
A. Yes it can look natural if done professionally. Avoid shop-bought solid block colours where you can end up looking too unnatural and have staining on your scalp. Go to a salon and have a consultation they will be able to recommend the most flattering course of action. Depending on the amount of white hair the procedure may involve the colour being combed on to the white hairs or they may add a few lowlights. Both will enhance and blend with your hair's natural tones. Think George Clooney who has kept some of his white hair and it has enhanced his sex appeal.
