This week, bride2b Candida has been sorting out her wedding invitations
Hi everyone
With only 14 weeks to go to the big day, it was time for us to meet with the wedding planner, Antonia, at Peppermint DIVA Events and decide on what our invites were going to look like. As we sent our “save the date” cards out three months ago, we wanted to keep the same style of text and general appearance.
We had thought about several different designs and ideas for the invitations, ranging from a simple card to an invitation in a bottle. So the best thing to do was to get together with Antonia and our stationer and look at loads of different examples.
We were given a pile of various invites ranging from the traditional flowery designs to really contemporary folding designs, so Damien and I each took half of the pile and made our own yes/no piles, before comparing the ones we liked. Thankfully there was a definite theme of what we both liked – clean, simple and elegant!
As half of our guests are English and will probably never have been to a Greek wedding, they won't be familiar with the traditions of the service or the reception, so we also decided to enclose a short explanation of what the traditions are (see last week's diary for more on that).
After some thought we settled on a design that was similar to a chequebook, with our names subtly embossed on the front of it. When opened it has all the information printed on a gold leaf-effect paper, the design also has a small wallet on the back for us to put the RSVPs, the information about a traditional Greek wedding and the hotel room reservation details, so it's perfect!
Damien and I are currently collecting addresses and the invites will go out in a couple of weeks, but I have to admit, I'm now starting to feel slightly anxious as the date drawers nearer and nearer!
