My big fab Greek Wedding - 17 weeks to go!
  • My big fab Greek Wedding - 17 weeks to go!

  • This week, bride2b Candida has been planning the stag and hen dos and choosing her favours...

Hi everyone

Damien and I have been busy this week organizing our stag and hen events.

It has taken a lot of organization because we are both doing one abroad for really close friends and another at home for our wider circles.

Damien has decided to go to Marbella for his in September and there’s about eight guys going.  I don’t even want to think about what’s on the agenda, but know his friends, so if he makes it back in one piece I will be amazed!!

I'm going to Athens (pictured) at the beginning of October for my hen do with six girls.  I am really looking forward to it and I intend to make it the best girlie holiday ever.  Athens has the best nightlife and the best shoe shopping in Europe!

Going away takes so much effort – its taken both of us three months to coordinate everyone’s diaries for the a weekend that everyone can make it.  Then there’s who's sharing a room with who, and agreement on what you’re going to do when you get there.  It’s a nightmare! But I finally think we're sorted.

The other thing we did this week was our favours.  Favours are very important at a Greek wedding but not terribly important to me.  All the women get one as a keepsake of your wedding.  It's not something I wanted to spend ages on – I didn’t want to trawl through stores trying to find the right thing and luckily I didn’t have to.

Being a fashion PR I am constantly checking my clients’ websites.  One day I was looking at Adele Marie’s site, who's one of our jewellery clients, and I came across a small Fabergé style diamanté egg.  It comes on a little stand and opens up so you can use it as a ring- or a pill-box.  I loved it and range Adele immediately.

She told me she could get as many as I needed – so job done with very little effort at all.  Our wedding planner, Antonia from Peppermint Diva Events then gave us a great idea. She didn’t think it was fair that the women get something and not the men, but that’s just the Greek way.

So she suggested that we put together little hangover kits for all the men - something that would be useful the morning after the wedding.  Damien and I loved the idea, so Antonia’s researching what we can put in it.  I’ll let you know how it turns out.

Next week I’ll be talking invitations!

Love Candida x
