My big fab Greek Wedding - 18 weeks to go!

Hi everyone

This week, Damien and I had a meeting with our wedding planner, Antonia from Peppermint Diva Events just to talk through our  budget and to figure out what still needs to be done.  And as it turns out – we still have to sort out our videographer, our invitations, Damien’s outfit and the bridesmaids' dresses.

What we did confirm this week was our cake and our flowers.

One of the things that really annoys me about wedding cake is that when its cut it looks really messy!  So we've found a perfect solution!  We're giving everyone individual cakes so nothing needs to be cut – and they'll all get their own little wedding cake.  Not only will it cut out the mess but it will look as spectacular at the end of the night as well as the beginning.

I was in luck, the people at The Cake Store knew exactly what I was talking about and showed me a photo of exactly what I wanted (pictured).  I'd never seen a cake like it and I’m really excited that they have a solution to my pet hate!!

The other thing we confirmed this week was the flowers.  To be honest, I was dreading it – because what I know about foliage and flowers I could write on the back of a stamp.  I knew where I wanted to get my flowers from though - The Funky Flower Shop - because I've seen Liz’s flowers before and she really does an outstanding job.  We also wanted something unique for a couple of reasons – first the date of our wedding is near Christmas and second the room at our venue, The Mayfair Hotel, in Central London is so ornate I didn’t want it to look cluttered.

Liz was great and she came up with some lovely ideas that would make the wedding look a bit like Christmas. We're having candles (and lots of them!) and also using winter fruits and Christmas foliage like pomegranates and fir cones sprayed gold which will fit perfectly into our colour scheme.

The table centre pieces will be alternately short and tall.  The tall ones will be in pomegranate-lined martini glasses with black-red roses; the shorter ones will be a fruit and flower arrangement surrounded by candles.

I need to go away and think about my bouquet though as my dress is quite vintage looking so I'm going to need something that is quite classic-looking.  Thoughts anyone?

Anyway, the whole thing is really starting to come together and I imagine it will look stunning on the day.  I'M SO EXCITED!

'Til next time
Candida x
