My big fab Greek Wedding - 5 weeks to go!
  • My big fab Greek Wedding - 5 weeks to go!

  • This week, bride2b Candida has been choosing her wedding menu

So this week Damien and I went to our venue, The Mayfair (pictured), for our menu tasting.  We took our parents with us and we ate in the room that the reception will be held in.

The table we ate at was dressed exactly as the tables will be dressed on the day of the wedding and it looked stunning.  The room is quite ornate - gold lacquer walls and a £1.2m Baccarat chandelier in the middle!

The table was dressed with claret table cloths and a prominent tall martini glass as the centrepiece full of blood red Uruguayan roses.  At the foot of the centrepiece were little red tea lights and a sprinkling of red rose petals.

We tried six canapés first, which will be served at the champagne reception.  They were all beautifully presented and tasted even better.  We settled on Lamb Wellington; chicken liver and foie gras crouton; onion and girolle mushroom tartlet and deep-fried Ragstone cheese with red pepper relish.

We then had to choose our main menu. We tried two starters, two main courses and the vegetarian option, plus three desserts.  The decision was pretty unanimous so it was easy to decide although I have to say all the food was absolutely spectacular.

So our final menu will be:

Starter: Roasted lobster with soft herb sauce, with Tricolor salad for the vegetarians

Main: Roasted fillet of Bodmin beef, potatoes baked with cheese, Béarnaise sauce and served with Asparagus, and wild mushroom tortellini for the vegetarians

Dessert: Dark chocolate fondant with vanilla ice cream

We know our guests will enjoy the meal as much as we did!

Next week I have my first wedding dress fitting, so I'll be back to tell you all about it!

Love Candida x
