Sara's Spanish Diary Part 14
  • Sara's Spanish Diary Part 14

  • Every week, find out what Sara's been up to as she plans her July wedding in Spain

Hi Everyone

As you probably read in last week’s diary, I had the first of my two hen nights. All I can say is, I had the best night ever.

My two bridesmaids and all my girls made so much effort and they really did make it a night to remember. The most special moment for me was when I got presented with a pink photo album with Polaroid’s of all the girls with messages from them all  - which me being me, made me shed a few tears! I’m sure we will be taking our blue Reflex sunglasses to Spain with us that we will end up wearing round the pool – but it will only be us girls who will find it funny!

I had a very exciting week this week as I collected my hair accessory and had my first dress fitting. I drove down to Leigh-Anne McCague  on Tuesday after work - I was so excited as I didn’t know exactly what my hair comb was going to look like. I had a fair idea as we had designed it together. When I saw it I was so pleased it was exactly what I wanted. All I wanted to do was try it on which was pretty tricky as my hair was down and I was on my own. Already on a bride-to-be high – the following evening I had my fitting at Blackburn Bridal.

I took my mother-in-law-to-be Sally, and my other bridesmaid Charlotte (Luke’s sister) with me, as they had not seen my dress yet.  I started to get a bit anxious; I was worried that they might not like my dress. Then I was thinking – ‘what if it doesn’t fit as I had tried the sample on last November, but it might be too small or too big!’

I have been working out a lot on my “bridal boot camp” but you never know!  All the anxiety was for nothing, they absolutely loved it and it fitted me like a glove (the pun) I took my shoes and my hair-comb with me and tried it on all together and I can honestly say I was blown away.  So much so that the tears came again – I felt sorry for Jane (the seamstress) as she was trying to pin the hem of the dress with me in tears! I soon calmed down and just stood for about 10 minutes just taking it all in.

I was told to measure myself on my waist, bust and hips so I don’t loose anymore weight as I need to stay the size I am so my dress fits. So I noted down all my statistics, ready to check every week. Let’s hope I don’t put on any weight! Mandy (shop manager) recommended a company who specialise in boxes that are the exact measurements for cabin baggage for transporting my dress to Spain. They are called life memories boxes and they are only £28, which is perfect as they can be used to store the dress after the wedding. After a successful fitting, we enjoyed a tapas supper overlooking Blackheath common with a few glasses of sangria – bliss!

It’s started to sink in this week that I am actually getting married in 6 weeks.  I know its sounds crazy but it seemed like such a long time to wait but now the time has flown. It sounds really soppy, but I just cannot wait to marry Luke, we have been through so much together, our wedding really will be so special for us especially having it so intimate with our closest friends and family.

Luke has got his stag do this weekend and he will be telling you all about it in next week’s diary – if he is still standing that is.

Sara xx
