If you’ve decided on your dress, now comes the really difficult bit, the quest for the right shoes. Should you blow the budget and splash out on a pair of Manolo Blahniks, or should you be sensible and stick to the more affordable high street? When you are shopping, try on as many pairs of shoes as possible and go with the most comfortable. You’ll be on your feet most of the day and there’s nothing guaranteed to ruin that serene smile in your photos more than aching feet!
Matching the style of your dress
If you’ve chosen a traditional bridal dress, opt for classic shoes with a lowish heel. As your dress is reaching the floor, you won’t see much of the shoes so it’s important that the bits that are visible complement it. Pointed toes are a perennial favourite and names to look out for include Jimmy Choo, Rainbow Club and Dune. A shorter, ballerina-length dress, on the other hand, is just crying out for a pair of round-toes shoes. Gina, Office and Kurt Geiger have a great selection.
Summer weddings
If you are planning a celebration in the summer months, you will be spoilt for choice. You may even be tempted by glamorous silver or gold evening shoes or jewelled sandals. It’s worth checking out high street stores as most of them have ranges that are fantastic for brides.
Winter weddings
A wedding during the winter months, on the other hand, can bring its own problems. You don’t want to wreck your elegant shoes in the snow or rain and sandals are a no-no. An attractive alternative is a pair of white bridal boots that will look stylish and be practical too. Henry Kaye has a traditional Victorian-style boot, while Paradox’s satin knee-high boot is scattered with diamanté.
