Hi all
I started writing this addition of my blog with a count of 44 days to go before the big day – blur forward and it is now 34 days to go! Ten days - one giant leap for mankind, one tiny step for people preparing for a wedding in 8 weeks!
Life has been quite chaotic, and not just with wedding stuff. I’ve been really busy with work and time just seems to be running away from me – which is ironic considering my job involves organising sporting events!!
The Bridesmaid dresses and flowers have been chosen by Heart 106 listeners and they’re currently voting on the cake – it’s nerve wracking stuff, but at least it takes the decisions out of my hands.
In addition to spending time making check-lists for the wedding, Tim and I have made a valiant effort in getting the house ready for the visitors – yesterday I plastered the kitchen ceiling and stripped the wallpaper in the lounge. This is what multi-tasking is all about!
This week we are going to get back on track with the whole wedding stuff. It has started well – it is Tim’s birthday today and being a good fiancé I made him breakfast in bed, sent him off to school (he’s a teacher!) with a home-made birthday cake and gave him a new bike – which he is currently playing with to give me time to catch up with this blog.
This week we are going to see the venue – it’s finally open! It’s The Cathedral Quarter Hotel in Derby. We have the day pretty much planned but it will give us a chance to make out the finer details, such as the spa treatment for the girls the night before, how the room will be laid out, and how to organise the bar in the evening. Also we might get a chance to go check out Darley Abbey where we have decided to have our photos taken – as of yet my research has been mainly based on photos from the internet!
I guess that is what we were most hesitant about when we were trying to plan the wedding ourselves, we had so many places we could get married, but we just couldn’t make a decision. I’m really pleased we won the Heart 106 wedding as it’s taken all of those decisions out of our hands, and when it has come down to it the place didn’t matter at all, we are just so excited to be getting married – all googly eyed and sickly! Ha ha.
