Who does what at your wedding: the parents of the groom?
Make sure the groom's proud parents know what they have to do and when
As organising and paying for a wedding traditionally fell to the bride's parents, the mother and father of the groom used to have less of a say in what happened. This custom has changed over the years, however, particularly where both sets of parents are contributing to the cost.
Either of the groom's parents can stand as witnesses to the signing of the register. Alternatively, if you discuss it with your officiant beforehand, they can usually both sign the register if they would like to.
After the signing of the register, the groom's father escorts the bride's mother down the aisle and out of the church/ceremony venue. They also sit next to each other on the traditional top table.
