  • 1.   Get in a lather

All good facialists will tell you that proper cleansing is the most important step to getting beautiful skin. Face wipes are great when you’re in a rush or on the go but to improve the look of your skin, you need a really good deep cleanser, which removes make-up and impurities to get your skin squeaky clean. I love Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel, £19.40, Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish, £10.25, and of course the classic Eve Lom Cleanser, £48.

For professional results, I’m a big fan of the ‘double cleanse’ routine. Cleanse once to remove your cosmetics and any dirt that’s built up on your face throughout the day, rinse, and then repeat the process. The second cleanse gives the product chance to work on your skin itself, clearing out your pores to keep breakouts at bay.

For the ultimate guide to getting your skin glowing and gorgeous, see Sophie's feature Ready, Steady, Glow! on page 116 of the July-Aug issue of You & Your Wedding, on sale now!
