Jonathan proposed to Carolyn on her 30th birthday. Having whisked her off to the Sanderson hotel in London for a romantic break, he also surprised her with a dinner at the Oxo Tower with Carolyn’s mum, brother and closest friends. “Afterwards the waitress brought out a cake,” says Carolyn. “Instead of ‘Happy birthday’ the icing read ‘Marry me’. I was so overwhelmed I couldn’t speak. When Jonathan said ‘Well?’ I realised I hadn’t answered. Of course – I said yes.”
