The couple Claire and Andrew met in a Brighton nightclub as teenagers. Andrew was living in London at the time so they saw each other at weekends for eight months until Claire moved up to London to live with him. Andrew proposed six years after they met, while on holiday in New York. He'd bought the ring two months previously and managed to keep the planned proposal a secret from Claire. The couple decided to marry in New York because of the special memories it held for them, and so they could have a small and stress-free wedding with just 12 guests.
