The couple Harriet (who goes by the chat room name Mrs Penguin) and Martin met in a nightclub in Leeds. The friend Harriet went with hooked up with someone so, looking for someone else to talk to, she turned to the nearest person she could find – Martin!
It turned out that they had both been going to the same places in Leeds for ages but had never met and by some strange coincidence, Martin had a photo of Harriet’s younger brother Hugh in his house and no one had known who it was! Both Harriet and Martin knew almost immediately that this was “the one” and Martin moved into Harriet’s flat after only three months together.
The couple joined Harriet’s family on a trip to France in the summer of 2004 and it was here that Martin proposed. Having finally managed to shake off the rest of the family for the day, Martin and Harriet saw the traditional sights of Paris including the Eiffel Tower. Martin was able to get to the second level before his fear of heights took over but he still managed to get on one knee and propose.
