We both wanted a memorable honeymoon, rather than a merge of lazy days on a beach, so we headed for South Africa. Our main aim was to go on safari, but we eased ourselves in gently with a tour of the Garden Route, picking up a hire car and staying at Tsala Treetop Lodge near Plettenburg Bay. We then spent two nights at Sante Winelands Hotel on the famous Wine Route, followed by a stop in Cape Town where we stayed at The Bay in the beach suburb of Camps Bay.
