When the cold British weather kicks in, the wealthy and wise jet off to enjoy summer on the other side of the world in Australia. Honeymooners considering a trip Down Under are spoilt for choice. Split your time between outback adventure, diving and snorkelling in some of the best coral reefs in the world, visiting the world's oldest rainforest, exploring Uluru (Ayers Rock) and discovering the wine routes.
And that's not even counting the wonderful cities. Sydney is a sun-drenched city where people know how to live life to the full. Stay in a trendy hotel like the new W Sydney and take advantage of the city's numerous attractions from Sydney Harbour Bridge to gourmet restaurants. Melbourne is another fun loving destination and full of vibrant arts. For something different, head to less well known spots such as the North West Kimberely Region known as ‘The Last Frontier' with its unspoiled scenery of dramatic gorges, waterfalls, red rock and aboriginal rock art.
And who knows, if you honeymoon in Oz in December, you may bump into Kylie and Dannii Minogue, Nicole Kidman, Cate Blanchett, Nick Cave or Russell Crowe returning home for Christmas. Singer Natalie Imbruglia and rock musician Daniel Johns did just that when they wed on New Years' Eve 2003/4 at Thala Beach Lodge in Port Douglas.
