Temperatures in the 30-plus islands of the Caribbean, which stretch from the Bahamas near Florida to Aruba off the coast of Venezuela, barely dip below 25C during January making it the perfect winter-sun honeymoon spot. January is the preferred month for the rich and famous to head to the West Indies with the likes of Claudia Schiffer, Elle MacPherson and Jodie Kidd flocking to the sun. Each island has its own very individual style.
Cuba is the largest island with everything from salsa to eco lodges and Jamaica is home to fantastic beaches and true reggae beats. The smaller, more exclusive islands of the Caribbean are perfect for honeymooners. Anguilla has the most amazing white sand beaches and in-the-know hangouts, the bijou French island of St Barts is awash with mega villas, gourmet food and designer shopping, while the Out Islands of the Bahamas offer pink sand beaches on Harbour Island and castaway strips such as Eluthera.
St Lucia, Barbados and Antigua are the traditional islands for Brits to visit and all have their own particular charms. Book into a hotel near the Pitons on St Lucia, push the boat out and stay at Barbados's finest, Sandy Lane or revel in the new found chic of Antigua at Carlisle Bay Resort.
