Covergirl Caroline's wedding planning countdown - 4 months to go!
I woke up today in a cold sweat for the first time since starting to plan the wedding - the realisation of how close it's getting is now all too clear now that I can say I'm getting married this year!
There's so much to do and so little time! Even if you do think you are on schedule and have things organised I think you still worry in case something has been forgotten.
So today I have a day off work which I will be filling with yet again wedding stuff! But fun stuff to say the least, as I'm off to meet with Lionel my jeweller. He has been amazing when it's come to me, my budget and ideas!
I was introduced to Lionel J Wiffen through my fiancé Simon's father Brian when we were first looking at engagement rings. He was the first person I went and saw.
And funnily enough the person I ended up going back to.
Lionel has a little workshop in London's Hatton Garden. If your a person that loves the glitz and glamour of the Bond Street shopping experience, then I'd say this probably isn't for you. But if you are more like me and love to feel like you have come across a real find, then this is the place to come.
Walking into a small corridor with security cameras watching you from overhead. You can't help feeling like you are about to enter into a Guy Ritchie movie scene. It's fantastic!
I'm ushered into the sales room where I meet Lionel, a softly spoken man with grey hair and a warm smile. Instantly I like him.
So much so that over the course of the last six months I've known him I've sent all my friends and acquaintances there. And every single one of them has bought their engagements rings, wedding bands, earrings and anything that their eye has taken a fancy for. So he must be doing something right - that's a pretty good hit rate!
So when it came to my turn, I was hoping that all the extra work I had sent his way might help when it came to me!
I was lucky. Not only did he give me a fantastic deal on both our wedding rings, which he will make for us from scratch. I also managed to persuade him to make me some earrings and a necklace for the wedding, which I had been designing just in case this meeting did work out in my favour!
And although Simon bought the stone for my engagement ring in Dubai, the actual setting was my design and executed by Lionel to perfection, so I can't rate him highly enough when it comes to understanding your design and then creating it. Not to mention the designs he has himself. His craftsmanship is impeccable.
