Would you have a Colin the Caterpillar wedding cake?

That's right - Marks & Spencer's iconic caterpillar cake has had a matrimonial makeover...

Caterpillar cakes have long been a staple of kids' birthday parties, office leaving 'dos and even the odd wedding (don't you remember THAT episode of Don't Tell The Bride?) - but this week Marks & Spencer announced that brides-to-be can now officially choose Colin the Caterpillar for their treat of choice, with their new Colin and Connie wedding cakes.

Both many-legged characters are now fit for the big day - with Colin sporting a top hat, bow tie and floral buttonhole, and Connie complete with a brand-new floral crown, veil and bouquet. Sweet!

The cakes serve 40 portions each - and at £50 are quite a lot steeper than the £7.25 original - but with the average UK wedding cake costing nearly £300, we think it's a steal.

Apparently, over seven million Colin cakes have been sold since their launch in 1990, but you're bound to stand out from the crowd with these on your dessert table.

So what do you think - tempted for nostalgic purposes (and the bargain price tag)?
