The Great Steward's Dining Room at Dumfries House

Good news! A dream venue fit for a queen doesn’t just have to be a figment of your fantasies - not now that the Prince of Wales’ latest restoration project, Dumfries House, a majestic Palladian masterpiece in Ayrshire (Scotland) is available for weddings.

Like something straight out of a love story, the house was originally commissioned in 1754 by the 5th Earl of Dumfries to win over the woman he went on to wed. 250 years later, in 2007, it was lovingly rescued and ‘saved for the nation’ by HRH himself. Filled with original furniture – the stuff of your Jane Austen dreams – and with a bona-fide fairy-tale history, it’s the perfect place to marry your man if you’re looking for a location that will give your wedding day a true sense of classical charm.

Picture your party dining over the house’s special Chantilly Blue China by candlelight in The Great Steward’s Dining Room (suitable for 60 guests) or enjoying the bijou charm of the portrait-lined Pink Dining Room (for 14-20 guests). And if you’re planning an affair to rival the scale of the Royal Wedding (minus Posh & Becks, perhaps), Dumfries House will make available their Tapestry Room, a cedar wood-panelled space that’ll host up to 110 for a service, or even the specially erected Marquee that offers up to 150 guests use of the garden – perfect for the ultimate big Scottish Summer wedding.

The finishing touch? The House has its very own experienced events team to take the truly stressful task of making those final tweaks to the tweed and tartan details off your hands. Et voila! A wedding that’ll bring together the best of bygone days with your personal wedding style. Considering that the first wedding to take place in the house was way back in 1792, you and your guests will truly be a part of history too.
