If you love the idea of an afternoon tea to mark the end of your single life but don’t like chintzy tearooms sprinkled with paper doilies then the Lobby Bar at One Aldwych is the place for you. Set in the heart of Covent Garden this cosmopolitan hotel is a chic retreat from the bustling London streets where you and your girls can eat, drink and be merry without an L-plate in sight. Everything from the décor (think Great Gatsby-inspired dark wood bar, oversized plant pots and Romanesque pillars) to the three tiers of tasty afternoon offerings says ultimate sophistication.

Sinking into the smart sofas (which are drenched in late afternoon sun thanks to the biggest arch windows we've ever seen) with a glass of taste bud-tingling champagne in hand you’ll feel like the Sex and the City girls as you're served your afternoon tea with a 21st century makeover. Alongside the perennial classics of sandwiches, scones and cake, you’ll find à la mode additions such as Welsh rarebit crostinis, quail scotch eggs, a dipping duck egg with asparagus that Carrie would swoon over and pink-trimmed battenburg that would have Charlotte squealing with delight.

When you manage to draw yourself away from the champagne, there are eleven teas to choose from, like the extravagant-sounding Jasmine Pearls blend or the fresh and fruity Wild Berries brew. And any hedonistic hens with a touch of the Samantha about them won’t have to miss out on their much-loved cocktails either. The refreshing Pimm’s jelly shot acts as the perfect palette cleanser to ease you from savoury to sweet while the bar men are more than happy to mix you up a cosmopolitan Tom-Cruise-in-Cocktail-style.

And when you’ve made your way through the carrot cake, chocolate brownie and eton mess you can skip out of the lobby bar straight into a top West End musical. This is one hen party you’ll certainly want to make a song and dance about.

Very Berry Afternoon Tea with a glass of champagne, £35 per person.
