What is it? A Few Best Men is a laugh out loud comedy of errors that will have you cringing for it to stop and calling out for more at the same time. It combines the over-the-top shenanigans of The Hangover with the hilarity of Bridesmaids plus some great British humour along the way. Based around an impromptu wedding of two people from very different worlds it’s one to watch when you’re panicking about last-minute table plan changes, guests suddenly converting to veganism or a wet-looking weather forecast... rest assured, whatever small hiccups you might encounter they’ll not be a patch on this wedding pandemonium!
The bridal party: With three best men you’d think you could rely on one of them to get it right on the day. Unfortunately for dreamy groom Xavier Samuel (Twilight) with goofy, yet loveable Kris Marshall (Love Actually), unstable and very drunk Tim Draxl and farcical Kevin Bishop as his best men, his day is destined for disaster. But it is the rather enthusiastic performance from Olivia Newton-John as mother of the bride that steals the show! See her in a whole new light as she drunkenly swings from the chandelier (standard MOB behaviour, right?)
Romance rating: Romance is in short supply here and with a runaway ram, the worst speech in history and a gun-wielding drug lord on the loose it’s not hard to see why. When you least expect it though, the film finishes with a tear-jerking romantic flourish restoring your faith in the real sentiments behind weddings.
