Jennifer works as first class cabin crew and met retail manager Morgan in 2007 onboard a flight from Johannesburg to their expat hometown of Dubai, (where they’ve both lived since 2006). They then bumped into each other again a night later in a Dubai bar, and the rest is history!

The proposal

The couple dated for just under two years before Morgan popped the question in quite spectacular surroundings: “He proposed at the only 7-star hotel in the world, The Burj Al Arab in Dubai during a meal at its seafood restaurant, the Al Mahara, says Jennifer. “It was a fabulous evening. The proposal came as a complete surprise, everyone gave us a round of applause and the table next to us even sent over a bottle of champagne!”

The couple married at Notley Abbey in Buckinghamshire, close to Jennifer’s parent’s home, however “It was such a cosmopolitan wedding!” says Jennifer. “Morgan is from South Africa, and also has family from Scotland and I’m from the UK, with lots of family in The Midlands. As we’ve lived in Dubai for so many years we had guests from many different countries – South Africa, The UK, The USA, India, The Netherlands, Autralia and The United Arab Emirates were all represented.”

The dress

“My dress was a chiffon Benjamin Roberts gown from The Wedding Centre in Marlow, Buckinghamshire. It was in the sale, so it didn’t break the bank!” Jennifer wore her dress with a pair of satin shoes from New Look, a veil from Maid in Heaven in High Wycombe, and an Indian pearl necklace – a gift from Morgan when the couple first started dating.

The theme

“Although Morgan is from South Africa he has Scottish heritage, so The Jamieson tartan was the theme throughout our wedding – Jamieson being our last name. The groomsmen wore cravats made of the pattern, handmade by my Mum.”
The bridesmaids

The four bridesmaids wore merlot-coloured skirts and tops from BHS. “This colour matched the Jamieson tartan extremely well,” explains Jennifer, “and my mum added a strip of the tartan to each of the maid’s tops so they matched the groomsmen.”

The cake
Sugary Crumbs Wedding Cake
The cake was made by Sugary Crumbs, High Wycombe. The bottom layer was fruit cake, the middle layer was chocolate cake, and the top tier was vanilla flavoured. And the creation was, of course, all finished off with a ribbon of Jamieson tartan.
