Adrian and Amanda have enjoyed their fair share of sunshine-filled travel. Having met while working in Dusseldorf, Germany – “we instantly clicked,” says Amanda – Adrian popped the question while they were on holiday in Norway.

“We stayed in Oslo for the weekend as it was my birthday,” says Amanda. “I’d been hoping Adrian would propose over Christmas, but I walked into the hotel room where we staying and he was on one knee with a ring. I was so happy I burst into tears. The best birthday present ever!”

Just under a year later, the couple said their I dos in front of 85 friends and family in glorious sunshine at the Atzaro Hotel on the White Isle.

During the spiritual ceremony, Amanda’s father said a prayer and Adrian’s sister, Faye, read from The Velveteen Rabbit. “We both wanted our wedding to have the relaxed feel you automatically get when you land in Ibiza,” says Amanda.

Amanda’s polka dot dress was from Rosa Clara at Liberty. “I really fell for this one,” she says. “I tried on about eight dresses beforehand, but as soon as I started to pull the dress on all the others disappeared from my mind and I just knew.”

Amanda set off the dress with bright yellow shoes from Kurt Geiger, diamond earrings that were a gift from Adrian, a tiara and a veil made for her by a friend.

The couple went for a laid back, yellow and white theme, inspired by Amanda’s favourite flowers: daisies. “I originally wanted only daisies and chamomile everywhere,” says Amanda. “But unfortunately our florist could not get hold of these, so we used mini gerberas mixed in with yellow and white roses instead. The flowers looked gorgeous!”

For table centres, Amanda and Adrian chose little glass vases and jars holding a few gerberas, yellow and white roses and chamomile – plus a few little candles for a romantic touch.

“At the entrance to the dining area we had the table plans hanging from clothes pins on an ivy vine,” says Amanda.

The gorgeous daisy-inspired table plans were handmade by Amanda’s sister, Laurel. “While I was picking up my dress and stressing about table plans, which I hadn’t gotten around to making, my sister was making them all for me,” she says. “I got home to see them all hanging in the kitchen and looking more beautiful than I could have ever done them myself. It was such a great surprise!”

Hues of yellow and white shone on the day, with Amanda and Adrian inviting their guests to dress in white and asking each bridesmaid to choose a yellow dress that she loved.

“All of my bridesmaids were from different places, so I asked them all to find a dress that they liked,” says Amanda. “I didn’t mind if they were all different, as long as they were yellow.”

Amanda and Adrians’ gift to both families was a five day holiday in Ibiza.

Adrian and his ushers wore linen suits from Racing Green with yellow polka dot ties and blue floral handkerchiefs. He also took a leaf out of David Beckham’s stylebook and wore a pair of shoes he’d spotted the footballer wearing on TV.

For favours, Amanda and Adrian ordered a bunch of men’s and women’s soaps plus lip balms from Burt’s Bees. “My bridesmaids and I tied the lip balm tins on top of the soaps with yellow ribbon the day before the wedding, while we were relaxing pool-side!” says Amanda.

The couple threw a huge party until the early hours of the morning with the help of DJ Beezwax, aka Brian, who worked through their “must play” party tunes.

Amanda and Adrian had their first dance to DJ Sammy’s, Heaven (the candlelight remix). “We deliberated it for a long time and thought this song really suited the venue,” says Amanda. “And of course the dance version was an Ibiza classic once upon a time!”

At the evening reception, the couple played a slideshow of photographs from their life together on a big screen, while guests enjoyed champagne and music.

The day after the ceremony, Amanda and Adrian had a boat party, sailing on the Cala Millor from Ibiza to Formentera. We like.

As darkness took over, Amanda and Adrian brightened things up with 200 candles floating in a water feature at the reception.

The couple ended the party with a bang, as fire dancers paraded around with a scorching performance after the meal.

Amanda and Adrian’s day was gorgeous and none of this could have been possible without a helping hand from wedding planner, Kerry-Anne Winton (ibizawedding.com).

“We don’t speak Spanish and although we love Ibiza, we really wouldn’t know it well enough to plan something like this on our own,” says Amanda. “Kerry found the venue, the photographers, the entertainers, the florist – everything. I am positive I would have eloped before trying to plan a wedding abroad without her help!”
