Too many Kates (Middleton and Moss), too many weddings (royalty and rock royalty) and too many fabulous clothes! With April’s royal wedding still fresh in our fashion-obsessed minds, and with Moss-Stock fast encroaching, we can’t keep up! At least now we’ve found a wedding dress that will work for brides-to-be on both ends of the style-spectrum: whether you’re a classic style-sweetheart like our new Duchess of Cambridge, or a vintage, welly-wearing festival aficionado like our national supermodel, Ms Moss, you’ll love Peacocks’ first ever wedding dress!

“Since the royal wedding, we have seen a new trend for sweetheart necklines and lace in our occasion wear. Catherine’s dress had elements that translated well for our customers,” explains Antonella Bettley, Peacocks’ Head of Ladieswear. So well, it seems, that the fab fashion retailer have taken all of its cues from our future queen’s big-day Sarah Burton creation in the designing of their debut wedding dress. And from the serious selling power Ms Middleton commands, it’s sure to be a sell-out (she’s already shifted what were formerly “granny-chic” pieces: feather fascinators, twinsets and pearls and Royal replica jewellery for the chain).

The sweetheart neckline and the lace half sleeves are more than reminiscent of the Duchess’s dress, though the bustle has been replaced by a satin bow and there’s a pretty prom hemline in lieu of Catherine’s two-metre train – definitely more suitable for the average British summer wedding weather. In fact, Miss Moss, who is set to marry this weekend over a three-day festival-style celebration, certainly wouldn’t have to worry about mud in this number. And Pearl Lowe, an old former friend of the nearly-wed, has designed a similarly vintage-inspired collection for the brand, brimming full of lace, chintzy florals and prim bows – so the brand is obviously ‘in’ with the Primrose Hill set.

Though budget is no big deal for our members of fashion royalty, this dress is affordable for those without the design teams of Alexander McQueen or Dior (rumoured to be responsible for making Moss’s big-day dress) on speed-dial, at just £60. But the most important thing? “We hope the dress makes customers feel every inch a princess,” adds Antonella. Mission accomplished –Middleton and Moss style!
