George and Annie met at university in 2008, and years later they got engaged in New York on Christmas Day.

"We were on the way back from Staten Island on the ferry, and with a gorgeous winter view of Manhattan, George proposed," shares Annie.

Inspired by their New York love story? The London wedding venue
Annie and George decided to hold their wedding at Cambridge Cottage, in London's Kew Gardens.

"We have always loved Kew," says Annie. "It's such a wonderfully green space so close to London."

London ended up playing a part in their wedding theme, with tables named after underground lines, so Kew was a natural choice of venue.

"The gardens made for incredible photos, and the guests loved it as well."

Searching for a venue in the capital? The surprise celebrity guest
Annie and George's wedding day also had a subtle Love Actually theme; Annie walked down the aisle to a song from the film, and by incredible chance, one of the stars from the film was at bar in the hotel she was getting ready in!

Thomas Brodie-Sangster, who played Sam in the film, even posed with Annie for a photo!
The choice of photographer
Annie and George chose James & Kerrie Photography to capture their big day, after having previously worked with them on a couple's photo shoot.

"When we got engaged, we were straight on the phone to them, and the wedding pictures were even more beautiful than we imagined!" says Annie.
The stationery was loosely based on the garden venue, with modern floral invitations in a colour palette to match the dusky pink theme of the day.
The Suzanne Neville wedding dress
Annie purchased her wedding dress from the Suzanne Neville boutique in Knightsbridge, opting for the Scarlett dress.
The wedding dress
"My dress was slim fitting with a lace top and satin style skirt with a knee level split," explains Annie.

"The slit in the skirt made it incredibly unique and showed off my shoes! I wanted to keep the style very ‘me’, I have never been a full skirt, ball gown girl and loved how classy and confident the dress made me feel."
The bridal accessories
"My headpiece was Crimson by Halo & Co. I didn’t feel a veil was very ‘me’, and it would have covered the back of the dress which was beautiful. The headpiece looked lovely, and we plaited my hair around it," says Annie.

READ MORE: 19 Beautiful Hair Accessories For Your Wedding Day
The bridesmaid outfits
Rather than traditional dresses, Annie's bridesmaids ticked a big 2018 wedding trend, going for mismatched bridesmaid styles.

They all wore different tops with matching skirts to suit everyone's individual style.

The skirts were from Zara, and the tops were from Coast. They then accessorised them with their own choice of shoes and jewellery.
The groom's attire
The groom and groomsmen all wore navy suits, each with a personalised pocket square to suit their personalities, featuring everything from flags of the world, Champagne labels to tanks and dinosaurs.

If you love their style, check out our edit of the best blue suits for grooms.
The wedding flowers
The wedding flowers were created by Annie from Pollen Nation.

"We worked with her to create the summer garden look, concentrating on loosely put together flowers and lots of foliage," explains Annie.

"She did a great job, so much so I have no idea what flowers they were! I left the flower choice to her, and just said my design concept which worked really well. We has loads of compliments on them."
The table decorations
The tables were decorated with scattered glass jars of varying heights with flowers to give a rustic, simple look, allowing the venue to really speak for itself.

READ MORE: Wedding table decorations and centre pieces: 25 interesting ways to dress up your tables
The wedding cake
George's mother made the wedding cake, creating three tiers in their favourite cake flavours, fruit cake, carrot cake and lemon and poppy seed.

"It was decorated with royal icing and ribbon, and flowers from the florist," says Annie.
The most memorable moment of the day
"For both of us, the ceremony was the best part of the day," reminisces Annie.

"It was full of love, humour and family and that was just perfect."
Planning advice for other couples
"Start early, but be prepared for it all to happen all at once closer to the wedding!" advises Annie.

"Also, we were given a great piece of advice from a friend – the week of the wedding go out for dinner, just the two of you, to your favourite restaurant, trying not to talk about the organisation of the wedding, and just enjoy each other."
