Lady Luck was smiling on Catie and Danny when a chance meeting in Vegas led to a transatlantic relationship. A move from Arizona to London followed for Catie, as did a romantic proposal in Hyde Park. “Danny popped the question in a horse-drawn carriage,” says Catie. “We rode around the park sipping champagne to find all our friends waiting to congratulate us at the end.”

The proposal influenced their dream venue too. “We were looking for something with a bit of soul and The Mandarin Oriental is so impeccably beautiful, with stunning views over Hyde Park,” says Catie.

“My dress for the ceremony, a lace Elie Saab gown, had a real Twenties feel,” says Catie. “It was everything I was looking for – perfection!” For the party she changed into a gorgeous Stella McCartney design. Danny’s Gucci suit and vintage Dior cuff links also added to the timeless look.

In keeping with the super glam theme, the bride-to-be invested in a pair of Christian Louboutin classics for her bridal shoes.

Catie created a vintage-inspired look with lots of glitzy clips and a super chic updo. “I trust my hair designer, Limoz Logli, completely. He has an incredible vision for what looks gorgeous. We didn’t even need to do a trial,” she says.

Their September wedding was given an antique feel with Amnesia roses and hydrangeas in soft tones (budflowers.com).

“Our tables were stunning,” says Catie. “The candelabra were the main focus of the décor.” Scattered around them were small tea light candles and flowers in quirky vases to create a cool Hollywood-style theme.

The couple crafted gift boxes for their guests, which held their favourite sweets inside. “We tied ribbon around each box with our names and the date of the wedding engraved in silver thread,” says Catie. “It was a lovely finishing touch.”

An elegant three-tiered cake from the Little Venice Cake Company (lvcc.co.uk) also added to the classic style of the day.

“We had champagne and canapés on the lawn outside the back of the Mandarin Oriental,” says Catie. “The view was stunning as the sun was shining and Hyde Park was in the distance.”

A Fifties Bentley topped off the romantic theme. “Some of my favourite photos are with the Bentley in a little mews street,” says Catie. “They were breathtaking. We also had some photographs taken in Hyde Park. Our photographer Polly chose the locations and her talent really shone through...”

“…I loved the fact that she works with film images, as they achieve the feel we were looking for. One moment I’ll never forget was my first dance with my father. I’ll always be grateful to her for capturing photos of this that I can cherish forever.”
