Top designer David Fielden was on hand with his latest collection to offer hot bridal advice: “Colour is cool at the moment. [My] English country garden collection is faded in colour but not twee. I really like the combination of washed-out silver and white; it looks fresh and new. Also, a big trend we’re seeing at the moment is the cover-up, so high necklines are a must.”

With the dress sorted, we moved on to Aruna Seth’s new collection of bridal shoes. We fell in love with the Josie; a demure, elegant closed-toe pump with a beautiful crystallised bow on the front.

Next stop: bridal hair and make-up. We caught up with the girls at beautycall.co.uk, who explained that this season’s hottest looks are inspired by glamorous vintage Forties and Fifties hairstyles. Think sleek and polished, like burlesque temptress Dita Von Teese, and work that porcelain, flawless make-up look effortlessly.

There is also a move away from cool greens and whites, with pastel pops of colour leading the way.
