Greece is the word: a tranquil mini-moon in Corfu

Discover the beauty of Greece's most westerly island at Marbella Nido Suite Hotel & Villas

Set into the hillside on Corfu’s east coast, Marbella Nido Suite Hotel & Villas strikes the perfect balance between contemporary-chic and traditional styling. The pretty buildings and tree-lined walkways make the adult-only hotel feel more like a Greek village than a resort, and the views out across the sea towards the mountainous mainland are mesmerising. It’s also incredibly easy to reach – short flight and transfer times make this the ideal spot for a mini-moon.

The hotel’s surroundings, on-site facilities and beautiful suites – some with private pools or Jacuzzis – make for a truly relaxing break. It’s an excellent choice for couples looking to unwind after the big day.

What to do…

With three restaurants, a gym, spa, beautiful pool and private beach, there’s no real need to venture too far from the resort. Come morning time we took in the views from our suite’s private terrace, and spent our afternoons lounging at the poolside restaurant or on the small beach, which sits just across the road from the hotel. If you’re after something a little faster paced than snorkelling and pedalo hire at Nido’s beach, take a short walk to the resort’s sister hotel, MarBella Corfu, where more watersports are on offer.

What to eat…

For glorious buffet breakfasts and dinners, head to San Giovanni, which offers a huge selection of delicious Mediterranean and Greek dishes. Or book a table at Apaggio Gourmet A La Carte Restaurant, where you can enjoy a romantic fine-dining experience including a six-course tasting menu. After a fabulous meal of fresh fish and salads, the restaurant’s sprawling outdoor terrace was the perfect place to watch the sun set with a glass of champagne.

What to see…

The island is particularly easy to traverse by car. And a visit to a Greek island wouldn’t be complete without exploring its secluded coves. The stunning west coast is just a 25-minute drive from the hotel, where you’ll find plenty of picture-perfect sandy beaches. We especially loved our visit to Glyko Beach, a tiny rocky cove with incredible scenery – a romantic spot for a picnic. With all this natural beauty, it’s easy to see why the Greek islands are also a popular choice for destination weddings.

Historic Corfu Town can be reached in around 30 minutes, and with its cobbled streets, 15th-century fortress and great restaurants, is well worth a visit. There are plenty of fantastic food options, so be sure to arrive hungry. You can also book some superb excursions, via the hotel’s reception.

Why we love it…

With wild flowers and olive trees at every turn, MarBella Nido blends seamlessly into the peaceful Corfu hills, while the elegant styling and attentive service is every bit the luxury romantic getaway. We left feeling truly unwound.
