Mini-moon review: Hampton Manor

Y&YW's Art Director Elliott Wilmot enjoys a foodie weekend in the countryside

WHERE This historic house, once home to former prime minister Sir Robert Peel, is located in the pretty village of Hampton-in-Arden in the West Midlands. The 45 glorious acres of parkland that surround the hotel are perfect for morning strolls.

WHY The Michelin-starred restaurant Peels is the main reason to visit Hampton Manor – and it certainly lived up to our expectations.

Our evening started in The Parlour with pre-dinner cocktails and tasting bites that were more like little works of art. Peels is designed beautifully, with dramatic high ceilings and walls papered with stunning decorations. The seven-course tasting menu was utterly divine, but our favourite dish had to be the delicious smoked eel. Each incredible course was also paired with a wonderful wine. Following dinner, we headed back to our modern, yet homely suite, complete with its own lounge area and a freestanding bath – which was absolutely perfect for a relaxing soak.
