Here’s one thing no one tells you about planning a wedding: it gives you more than one perfect excuse for some pampering. A pre-wedding wellness retreat, a blissed-out hen do, some bonding time with your mum or a luxury UK honeymoon – all of these are excellent opportunities for some serious relaxation time. To make sure you have the best experience possible, we’ve rounded up the best spas in the UK.
When it comes to treatments that work and high quality facilities, we find that spa hotels are the best bet, whether you stay overnight or just go for the day. If you’re not sure how to choose, think about what’s most important to you. Are you results-driven – that is, do you want a pre-wedding facial that makes a real difference to your skin? Focus on the treatments menu and the products used. Or are you more about the relaxation side? We all know how stressful wedding planning is. If so, look at the facilities – it may be that these are so extensive that you can spend the whole day there simply chilling out, without even having a treatment! Of course, most of our picks are equally good at both – that’s what makes them the best spa hotels in the UK.
If you book your spa break close enough to the date of your wedding, you could combine your pampering with grooming. Many places offer beauty services such as eyebrow shaping, manicures and pedicures, and waxing.
Whatever your reason for booking in some spa time, we know you’ll love these soothing retreats.
1. The Scarlet Hotel, Cornwall
The Scarlet’s amazing natural outdoor swimming pool
This hotel really makes the most of the glorious Cornish coastal setting, with an outdoor barrel cedar sauna, clifftop hot tubs and and a chemical-free natural swimming pool. What’s more, local, mineral-rich Cornish mud is used in some of the treatments. The focus here is on holistic wellness: treatments are designed to nurture mind, body and soul. If you’re looking for a shellac mani-pedi or a product-heavy facial, this probably isn’t quite right for you. However, if you’d like to try a bathing ritual, invigorate your skin in the hammam or enjoy some anti-ageing facial massage, you’ll be in heaven. There’s also an indoor pool and two relaxation rooms that are ideal for blissing out.
Best for: Reconnecting with your partner if you’re finding wedding planning stressful – the facilities for couples are excellent
Price: Day spa journeys start at £175 per person, including a treatment and lunch
