Honeymoon review: The Tudor Farmhouse

Art Editor Katie Phipps unwinds in the charming surroundings of this boutique hotel near Gloucester

Located in the pretty village of Clearwell, and with the beauty of the Forest of Deane nearby, a pre-wedding stay at The Tudor Farmhouse is a superb way to kiss goodbye to any wedmin stress.

The sunny garden of The Tudor Farmhouse

This boutique hotel is country chic at its best, with homespun touches and gorgeous coziness. We were glad we remembered our walking gear, as we went to explore the local area as soon as we arrived. Nearby, you’ll also find Clearwell Caves, Chepstow Castle and the forest at Puzzlewood, which has been used for filming TV shows. After a good dose of fresh air, we headed back to the hotel for a pre-dinner soak. With its own kitchen garden, free-range chickens, orchard and local foraging, there isn’t much that doesn’t come from the surrounding pastures at dinner time. The poached halibut with gnocchi, mushrooms and chive sauce was incredible!
