Hotel review: Jumeirah Carlton Tower in Knightsbridge

Experience decadence at its best in the heart of London's city centre

You might not think you can easily escape the hustle and bustle of London within the city centre. Even as I write this, in fact, I’m fuelled with stress and anger of a delayed and squashed morning commute.

But there is light at the end of the tunnel and it comes in the form of Jumeirah Carlton Tower in Knightsbridge.

The luxurious hotel brand is renowned for its decadence in many locations across the globe, most famously perhaps, in Dubai.

And, if it’s the wow-factor you’re after, the Knightsbridge branch doesn’t disappoint.

You’ll be met by friendly concierges as soon as you set eyes on the grand hotel, and they’ll instantly make you feel welcome as they assist you to check in and escort you to your spacious suite.

While the beauty of the hotel is its convenient location with numerous attractions a stone’s throw away, you’ll find it hard to leave your room and the on-site facilities.

Situated on the top floor, a therapist at The Peak Health Club & Spa will massage your daily troubles away as you enjoy a full body treatment, complete with comforting white robes and slippers to make you feel at home. The hotel is full of guests wandering about in their slippers, which adds a lovely, family feel to your stay.

On the second floor lies a beautiful 20-metre swimming pool, sauna and gym facilities that will blow your mind. The luscious pool is located under a glass roof, which means you can take in the sights of London as you do lengths – there’s no better motivation for exercise than a gorgeous view. Or, perhaps, the feast you can enjoy at the hotel restaurant afterward.

The hotel menu offers a variety of choice for your daily meals, and you won’t be judged for enjoying it in the comfort of your decadent hotel room. Although it might not seem like a luxurious choice to complement the venue, the hamburger with fries, onion rings and a delicious homemade relish will leave you feeling completely satisfied. I know, I know, you have to eat it to believe me.

After a great night’s sleep in your enormous bed and a refreshing shower in the room’s grand ensuite bathroom, you’ll be ready for a breakfast of champions and that’s exactly what you’ll get.

In sumamry, the Jumeirah Carlton Tower is a London hideaway that is definitely worth discovering. Ideal for your first night as man and wife after a city wedding, or a romantic spa weekend with your fiancé, the hotel offers everything you could possibly need and want. Your only complaint will be having to leave.
