Minimoon review: De Vere Wotton House, Surrey

Molly Coughlan unwinds in the charming surroundings of this pretty Surrey manor house

You’d never know you were just 10 minutes away from the M25 once you’re holed up together in this tranquil 17th-century country house with delightful views. It’s just a stone’s throw from the beautiful Surrey Hills, where you can enjoy all manner of country pursuits. For something a little more celebratory, head to the vineyard at Denbies Wine Estate for a fruity glass of red.

The 13 acres of Italian gardens that surround the house are stunning, so collect some Hunter wellies from the boot room or hop on a vintage bicycle to venture around them, being sure to visit the Roman temple. If you prefer to stay warm inside, there’s a gym with a sauna and steam room, and plenty of cosy corners for curling up with a book. However you spend the day, it should end in style at the 1877 Restaurant & Bar – we heartily recommend the Casterbridge sirloin steak.
