Minimoon review: Tewkesbury Park, Gloucestershire

Head to the pretty Cotswold Hills for a relaxing spa and countryside break

The grand façade

WHERE This family-owned hotel sits in a splendid location on the top of a hill, making for incredible views across the Cotswold Hills in one direction, and the Malvern Hills in the other. You can enjoy these from the smart golf course or the newly refurbished suites, which have huge beds and delightful bathrooms. There are so many facilities here that it would be easy to hole up for the weekend on the hilltop, but that would mean missing nearby Tewkesbury, which is full of Medieval houses and a beautiful abbey.

Intimate wedding anyone?

WHY Sporty couples will love the gym, spinning studio and indoor pool, as well as the chance to play tennis, golf, squash and croquet. If you’re more into your relaxation, there are plenty of ways to feel zen, whether you’re curled up in the lounge with a good book or in the spa (try the 70-minute Seasonal Body Recharge, it’s worth a visit just for that!).

The copper baths are made for two

Make time for the fabulous food, especially afternoon tea in the Orangery and the evening tasting menu that’s packed full of local produce.
