The Hydro Pool
Where: Just under an hour from central London, this stately home spa hotel is the perfect place for a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. It’s ideally located if you’re donning your biggest hat and heading to the races, but there are plenty of other delights to explore nearby, too, including Windsor Castle, Thorpe Park and Wentworth Club.
First impressions: There’s more than meets the eye at Berystede. While it may just look like quite a small, cosy Victorian building, it actually stretches back to accomodate all 126 rooms. Step inside and you’ll find yourself in the lobby and Oak Lounge with a huge fireplace, perfect for snuggling up on the sofas in cold weather.
The hotel exterior
Standout points: Planning to get your best girls together to go to the races as part of your hen? Also fancy a bit of a spa weekend at the same time? This is the place! Find your best dress and hat and have a flutter on the horses, then head back to the hotel (just a five minute drive and the closest 4-star hotel to the racecourse) for some well-deserved R&R.
One of the smart rooms
Room for romance: Spend the night in a Turret Suite for your own mini princess experience – it has gorgeous views over the gardens and a huge bathroom.
Wine & dine: For dinner, head down to The Hyperion Restaurant which serves up delicious new twists on classic dishes. Try the posh ham, egg and chips for starters – it’s so good you’ll want to Instagram it before savouring every bite. On sunny afternoons, make the most of the gorgeous weather and grab a drink in the Royal Enclosure Terrace & Gardens.
The large spa pool
We love: Indulging in a treatment at the spa (top tip: with the Face and Body Sensation you don’t need to choose between a massage or a facial – you can have both!) Although with a thermal spa, saunas and an outdoor Hydropool available to all guests, you don’t need an appointment to treat yourself.
