Central World Bangkok
Our Christmas wedding in December 2009 was made extra special by the addition of plenty of snow! Little did we know when we were choosing honeymoon destinations that we would be leaving temperatures of -6C for the dizzying heights of +33C! Finding a sunny destination that neither of us had visited before with an easy journey were the main priorities, but we also wanted a mini adventure with lots of variety and excitement. We settled on the beautiful relaxed island of Koh Chang in Thailand followed by the bustle of Bangkok for New Years Eve.
Our journey began at Stansted, close to home and a comfortable 13 hour flight with AirAsia to Kuala Lumpur. The overnight stop was great fun with the smallest hotel room either of us had ever stayed in at Tune Hotels! With a big comfortable bed and a large shower, there really wasn’t anything else we needed.
The next day began early with a short flight to Bangkok where we were met by our driver who was taking us on a five hour journey through the beautiful Thai countryside to the ferry port of Trat. When we asked “Is Koh Chang a beautiful island?” the reply of “three hours” was some-what surprising but he drove well and made sure we had all the necessary comfort breaks. It was lovely to watch the temples, paddy fields and small villages role past us before arriving at the ferry port for the short hop over the sea.
