Next stop: paradise
“We were torn as to our honeymoon destination, European romantic or Caribbean paradise. Jonathan was going to arrange it all himself but eventually decided it was better to discuss where we would like to go together and we decided to go to paradise!”
“Jamaica, in particular the Couples Swept Away Resort, was recommended to us by a friend. After a bit of research we thought it looked just what we wanted; a luxurious, lazy retreat perfect for recovering from months of wedding planning.”
Champagne on the beach
“We arrived in the middle of the night and were greeted with glasses of champagne and the world’s friendliest staff, which set the scene for the rest of our time there.
“The resort is built on a gorgeous stretch of beach, with the buildings nestling between lush tropical plants – the palm trees on the beach create little pockets of shade if you want it.”
Lazy days on the beach
“Days soon fell into an easy routine of waking up to the sound of the crickets and insects outside our room then heading off for a leisurely breakfast before heading down to the beach and finding a spot for the day.
“Then we’d do a bit of lounging in the warm sea on the inflatable seat cushions and listen to the musicians as they played and strolled along the beach. Each afternoon there was a tropical rain shower which made perfect time to head off for lunch and an afternoon ‘nap’ then back to the beach to watch the stunning sunsets while deciding which restaurant to visit for dinner.”
A feast of choice
“The food at Swept Away was fantastic, fresh varied and very tasty. With a choice of six different restaurants we didn’t ever get bored by the choice or variety on offer.”
Workout or chillout
“There are plenty of activities on offer, gym, water sports, outings, beauty treatments or you can simply lie back with your cocktail of choice (ours were Mudslides, mmm mmm) and just take it easy.”
Candle-lit romance on the beach
“Highlights for us were a boat trip out along the coast with Trillan the pilot who was a real giggle, and the weekly barbecue on the beach which was a sight to behold. The ultimate in romance was our dinner for two on the beach by candlelight.
“The setting was just perfect as we walked on the sand down a candle-lit pathway to our table and were waited on discreetly as we enjoyed our four-course meal. With the waves gently lappng the beach, it’s was a meal, and a holiday, I know neither of us will ever forget.”
