Halloween spooky nail art Nightmare before christmas

31 brilliant Halloween nail art ideas

From pumpkins to ghosts and witches, add a spooky touch to your outfit with our pick of the best easy Halloween nail art.

Once again Halloween is nearly upon us, that time of year where we queue up outside the cinema to see the latest ‘slasher flick’ or hide behind the sofas as we dig out a vintage horror classic like ‘Scream’ or ‘Psycho’. We carve out pumpkins and decorate our houses in fake cobwebs and rubber bats on strings in preparation for the multitude of ‘trick or treaters’ knocking at the door. October 31st also gives us a chance to dress up – and although many of us might no longer go trick or treating, there are plenty of ways to pay tribute to spookiest night of the year.

Whether you’re moonlighting as a sexy witch or a mummified zombie, your look will require make-up to match (coloured contact lenses optional) not to mention nails. And this time of year is where fun nail art really goes to town. After all, there’s no point spending hours on painstaking facial aesthetics if you’re not going to make an effort with your nails too. (And if you’re getting married around the 31st, having a mani with a side of spookiness is a fun way to mark the time of year.)

Halloween nail art

With that in mind we’ve picked some stand-out designs that are really going to create a stir this Hallows’ Eve. From haunted houses, to pumpkins, poison apples and witches’ cats – even mummies – these designs are guaranteed to spark some creativity in the nail department. We’ve got designs ranging from fairly straight-forward to super fiddly and high-tech (the haunted house is not for beginners!) to downright bonkers (one even involves tissue paper).

You can either attempt these designs yourself with a nail art pen (or a cocktail stick dipped in varnish) or you can ‘cheat’ and take the photo to your manicurist. Either way there’s no excuse for drab talons when the 31st rolls around.
