Beauty breakdown: Kate Middleton’s royal wedding look

Bridal beauty expert Jules Cardozo-Marsh reveals her top tips on how to achieve a celebrity look.

Over two years on from the Royal Wedding, Kate Middleton’s bridal beauty is still one of the hottest topics in wedding world. Now that we’ve got beauty expert Jules Cardozo-Marsh on-hand to give us her thoughts and tips on the biggest trends, we decided to grill her about the Duchess’s big day…

Jules tells You & Your Wedding: I had the pleasure of doing the make-up for Chelsy Davy on the big day and was involved with lots of press interviews asking my expert opinion on Kate’s look.

There’s no denying that Kate looked absolutely radiant. All brides look radiant on their wedding day, whether they choose a natural fresh look or something a little heavier.

It was rumoured that Kate applied her own make-up and, having seen that she stayed well within her comfort zone, I can believe it.

I would have liked to see Kate with a little more of a smoky eye on her big day. She tends to draw her eyeliner on and it can look a little hard, so a softer look may have been more flattering for her. Whenever I see pictures of her I always want to smudge underneath her eye!

She was criticised in the press for overuse of her blusher but it’s important to note that make-up needs to be a little heavier than normal so it shows up in the photos.

Choosing the right texture of lipstick is just as important. Lipgloss can fade quickly, so Kate opted for a pale pink lipstick that guaranteed staying power (rumoured to be from Bobbi Brown).

Kate looked after her skin in the lead-up to the big day with regular oxygen facials. I suggest booking monthly facials four to six months before your wedding day. Try to avoid having one the week of your wedding though, just in case you experience a breakout.

In future, I would like to see Kate experiment a little more with colour. She would look amazing with a red lip and a 60s flick combo.
