As most brides will attest, the best part of planning a wedding is tasting the cake, and the worst part is trying to be healthy in the run-up to the big day.

Well, what if we told you you could eat chocolate cake and still lose weight? Yep, that sounds pretty ideal, doesn’t it? And it’s got scientific facts to back it up.

Researchers at Tel Aviv University found that morning is the best time to consume sweets as that’s when your metabolism is most active, meaning you have the rest of the day to burn off the calories.

21 FLORAL WEDDING CAKES TOO PRETTY TO EAT

The study also found that it was best to eat sugary treats as well as proteins and carbs.

It was carried out on 193 obese non-diabetic adults, who were split into two groups. One group had a low-carb diet that included a 300-calorie breakfast, while the other had a balanced 600-calorie breakfast that involved chocolate cake.

Halfway through the study, both groups had lost around 33lbs per person, but in the second half, the low-carb group regained on average 22lbs per person, while the chocolate cake group lost another 15lbs per person! That amount went up to 40lbs by the end of the trial.

6 DIET IDEAS THAT REALLY AREN’T TRUE

The low-carb group found cravings weren’t satisfied, and it caused them to cave later on.

Moral of the story: Diets that are too restrictive are never a good idea in the long term, and you should do wedding cake tasting every morning. Done.
