Get the look: Victoria Beckham’s smoky eyes

Bridal beauty expert Jules Cardozo-Marsh reveals her top tips on how to achieve a celebrity look

Victoria Beckham turned heads with her smoky eyes for the launch of her new fashion collection in Munich last week. Luckily for anyone coveting her look, we have beauty expert Jules Cardozo-Marsh on hand to tell us how to achieve it ourselves. Have a read of her top tips.

The smoky eye is perfect for a dramatic winter’s wedding – especially with the gold shimmer that Victoria added in the corner of her eyes.

Always prep your eye area first as this means that your eye shadow has something to bond to. Use your normal foundation and apply with your fingertips (it’s not necessary to buy an expensive ‘undercoat’ for the eyes). Blend in well, and apply a light dusting of translucent loose powder on top to take away any shine.

Using a black eye pencil, draw a line close to the lash line starting at the inner corner of your eye and work your way out. It’s okay if you stop and start, practice makes perfect. Using a small brush, blend it out so that the line is smudged. You don’t want a harsh line so blending is really important for this look.

Using a black eye shadow, apply to the lash line using a small brush and blend up to the socket. The more you blend the better the result will be. Using a clean brush to blend is ideal.

Don’t worry if any of the eye shadow falls onto your skin, that’s why we leave the foundation till last.

Build up your colour to suit your required look, always blend, blend and blend some more.

Using a small rounded brush, apply a small amount of eye shadow underneath the eye and smudge. And you can apply a little black eye pencil to the edges if you want a more dramatic look.

We don’t normally see Victoria using shimmer on her eyes but this works really well here. To achieve this yourself, apply a small amount of gold shimmer to the inner corner of the eye and blend out slightly. In this case, less is definitely more and you only want a little hint of it.

Next, apply lashings of mascara.

Victoria keeps the rest of her face rather nude to make her eyes stand out. Try some contouring on the cheeks using a matt bronzer and nude lips.
