Iconic celebrity wedding perfumes

Here are the romantic fragrances celebrities wore on their wedding day (plus where you can buy them), from Michelle Keegan and Kate Middleton to Audrey Hepburn and Princess Diana.

Princess Diana

When she wed Prince Charles, Diana decided to depart from her signature scent, Faubourg by Hermés. Instead, she chose a few drops of Quelques Fleurs by Parisian brand Houbigant (£42, Liberty), a mix of tuberose, jasmine and rose which we’re sure matched her spectacular bouquet perfectly.

The Duchess of Cambridge

Much like Princess Diana, the Duchess of Cambridge chose a unique floral fragrance for the big Royal Wedding in April 2011. She spritzed herself with White Gardenia Petals by Illuminum (£70, Illuminum), with top notes of lily, jasmine and gardenia.

Michelle Keegan

On the morning of her wedding day to Mark Wright earlier this year, Michelle Keegan cleverly incorporated her ‘something blue’ in her perfume. It was simply called Blue, by Oscar de la Renta (£17.69, Amazon.co.uk), and featured notes of bergamot, mandarin, neroli and lily of the valley amongst other blooms.

Amal Clooney

Oscar de la Renta’s Blue scent is clearly a popular choice, as that’s also what Amal Clooney wore to celebrate her nuptials with George Clooney. It did make sense as the bride wore a custom gown by the late designer.

Audrey Hepburn

Lucky lady that she was, Audrey Hepburn didn’t have to buy a wedding perfume, she had one designed especially for her by her friend Hubert de Givenchy in 1957. It was called L’Interdit (£90, Harrods), and she loved it so much that she refused to have it mass-produced for everyone else to have as well. It was finally released to the public in the 1960s.

Grace Kelly

There’s nothing quite as romantic as your groom having a fragrance designed just for you. That’s exactly what Prince Rainier III did for his American bride Grace Kelly in 1956. Living not far from Grasse, the perfume capital of the world, he commissioned a perfume to be delivered to his bride, which resulted in Fleurissimo by Creed (£165, Harrods), a soft and feminine composition of floral notes to match Grace’s bouquet.

Marilyn Monroe

Marilyn Monroe famously said all she wore to bed were a few drops of Chanel No5 (£68, Boots), so we can assume she also wore it on her wedding day(s).

Kate Moss

Although Kate Moss didn’t release details of her wedding perfume, we know she is a fan of Penhaligon’s Bluebell fragrance (£88, Penhaligon’s), so we’re pretty sure she spritzed it on before walking down the aisle in her beautiful gold Galliano gold dress.

Poppy Delevingne

Poppy Delevingne wore a beautiful floral embellished Chanel gown to say her vows, and to go with it, she had a few drops of Jo Malone’s Orange Blossom (£85, Jo Malone), which is a bloom that has been linked to weddings a symbol of purity and chastity since ancient China.
