Spa review: The Peak Health Club & Spa at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower

Need a bit of pre-wedding pampering? Read our reviews of the top hotels and spas to find the best one for you...

WHERE: The Peak Health Club & Spa at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower, London
THE VIBE: A city-centre sanctuary, and the perfect way to relax after a leisurely (or hard, depending on your shopping style) day taking in this affluent part of West London.
BEST BRIDE-TO-BE TREATMENT: The Pevonia Pineapple & Papaya Saltmousse Scrub is divine. Applied by the therapist before I hopped in a giant shower with perfect water pressure, and finally smothered with the complementary body balm, I loved the fact that the scrub cleverly works into a lather when showered off, making it a scrub and cleanse all-in-one. The therapist discreetly left me fresh towels, paper pants and slippers and made herself scarce while I luxuriated in the shower, before returning bang on cue once I was back on the bed. Clever! The only downside to the whole treatment was that it didn’t last long enough.
HIS ‘N’ HERS TREATMENTS: For the ladies there’s everything from facials, body treats and massage to acupuncture, osteo, makeovers and IPL. Boys, you won’t recognise yourself after facials, a mani and pedi and a back or chest wax, should you be feeling brave…
BEST AMENITY: The pool and Jacuzzi combination is smart and there are steam rooms and saunas in each of the male and female changing rooms. This women-only feel helped with the relaxation factor. The Jacuzzi overlooks the pool so the Mr took it easy and kept an eye on me while I ploughed up and down the lanes…
MUST DOS WHILE YOU’RE THERE: Hit the King’s Road, High St Kensington, Harrods, Harvey Nics and the numerous boutiques that surround the hotel – including the poshest Waitrose you’ll ever be seen in.
WHO GOES: Well-heeled types and those looking to splash out on the romance of a weekend in the heart of London’s designer district (Gucci et al are literally over the road).
THE BEDROOM: The Junior Suite is tried and tested and offers a balcony that comes with amazing views of West London (including Harrods lit up at night – very magical); a giant, super-comfortable bed and sofa/desk/more-than-you’d-ever-need furnishings. Even the remote control’s in a leather case of its own. We didn’t stay in one but the Spa Suites look suitably indulgent with marble bathrooms and a very welcome egg-shaped bath if you’ve been pounding the streets all day.
DETAILS: If wedmin gets too much, the ‘Total Bliss’ package (120 mins, £190) will swiftly transform you into a stress-free bride. A ‘Day of Pampering’ would be hen night paradise for mums and maids (£120 mins, £170), while the ‘Because You’re Worth It’ package is bride-to-be brilliant (270 mins, £310).
WHAT’S INCLUDED: Hotel guests can use all the spa facilities; rooms at The Jumeirah Carlton Tower, London, from £220 per night.
