Treatment review: Ultherapy at the The Cadogan Clinic

Our beauty tester tries out a non-invasive treatment for lifting the face.

Where: The Cadogan Clinic

What: Ultherapy, a non-invasive anti-ageing treatment to give your face a lift. The treatment can be used anywhere on the face and Dr Zamani says the eyes are a particular favourite with brides. It’s a one off blast so can concentrate on more important things like how much money to spend on the all-night disco!

The vibe: The clinic is in a very pleasant street just off Sloane Square, London, and the room feels more like a beauty salon which helps offset some nerves.

The experience: You need to have an initial consultation with Dr Zamani to check you are suitable – alas, I was – and she suggests some anti-pain medication before the actual treatment to reduce the pain.

I’m not going to lie here – the first 25 minutes hurt. It’s just bearable but it’s definitely not a tickling sensation – more like electric shocks – and you need a minimum of 500 although the second round is much ore comfortable.

To treat my chin and jowls took just under an hour. Unlike lasers and radio frequency Ultherapy bypasses superficial skin layers to deliver ultrasound energy at a much deeper level (hence the pain) and at the right temperature which triggers the regenerative process to produce fresh, new collagen.

The results: There is a little pinkness, which fades after 24 hours. The results take around 2-3 months to kick in and when they do the skin definitely looks tighter and firmer. How long it lasts is down to the individual and how fast they are ageing but Dr Zamani thinks my result will last at least 18 months.

The price: Brows start from £650, with an entire face treatment starting from £3,250 (dependent on age and areas).
