London-based cupcake baker Harpreet Baura is using chocolate icing and a soft sponge to raise money for tsunami victims with her campaign, Cupcakes for Japan.

“When I saw the footage of the tsunami devastation, I was desperate to do something to help,” she reveals. “I investigated to find out which charities had a Japan campaign, and then got in touch with the British Red Cross.

“Sales have gone very well so far, with a great response to the cupcakes, as well as extremely generous donations being made by everyone.”

With a total of nine bakesales in the pipeline and 12 cupcake companies involved in donations, Cupcakes for Japan has already raised £4271.25 and is working towards a £5000 target.

How long will Harpreet’s campaign last? “As long as cupcakers can keep donating and firms can keep hosting the sales, we can keep raising money!”
