Bride shares first dance with man who saved her life

For most brides, that first dance is the perfect way to share an intimate moment with their new husband, but Greta Hokanson did things a little differently.

When it came to her first dance, bride Greta Hokanson chose to share the special moment not with her husband, or her dad, but with 44-year-old Danny Daniels.

Why? He just happened to save her life when she was 16. You see, Greta was diagnosed with leukaemia at the time, with the only cure being a bone marrow transplant.

Danny was a match, and Greta underwent a successful operation. Both parties decided to meet a year later, and they’ve kept in touch on Facebook ever since.

THE 10 WORST FIRST DANCE SONGS

Fast forward a few years, Greta got engaged and decided she wanted Danny to be part of her big day.

She told Buzzfeed, “When we were making our guest list, I told my mom that I really wanted to invite Danny and Angie, his wife. I had an online RSVP system, and when I got his response with the message, ‘We can’t wait to see you!’ my jaw dropped to the floor.”

It was the newlywed’s DJ who came up with the idea to honour him during the first dance, and they chose the song Angels Among Us by Alabama.

“I had only seen him during [the] receiving line, so it was our first chance to talk. I gave him my thanks again and I got really emotional. I can’t get over what his selfless act means,” Greta said.

As you can all imagine, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. In fact, pass us the tissues please!
